Ace Play Poker Launched in Nevada

Ace Play PokerOne of the first online poker licensees in Nevada – American Casino & Entertainment Properties – is offering real prizes in play money games on its new site.

Aceplaypoker.com – a free online poker site run by the owners of the Stratosphere and Arizona Charlie´s casinos in Las Vegas – went live on Tuesday, offering players “free-to-play” poker with real prizes available to winners of its play money feature tournaments and entry tickets to live poker events in its “Sit n Play” challenge.

Among the prizes available to players who “cash” in the Daily Challenge tournaments are gift vouchers for use at the Stratosphere and Arizona Charlie´s, show tickets, free hotel accommodations and thrill rides at the Stratosphere – including the famous “Sky Jump”, where idiots participants throw themselves off of the 108-storey building in a controlled freefall.

OnGame Network Back in the States

The launch of the free money poker site has been a joint effort between ACEP Interactive – the iGaming arm of American Casino & Entertainment Properties – Bally Technologies and the OnGame Network, who were last seen in the States in 2006 and featured some of the biggest online poker sites of the time including pokerroom.com and betandwin.com (now Bwin.com).

ACEP is one of three Nevada online poker licensees who last week were granted a further six-month window to get their software up and running, and get their online poker presence established ahead of future legislation allowing real money online poker in Nevada. For the present, the Aceplaypoker.com web site will be ring-fenced and will not form part of any play money network.

Who Can Play at Ace Play Poker?

Ace Play Poker is open to any poker player aged 21 or over, no matter their location (except for South Carolina), but prizes will only be awarded to US residents unless they live in Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Mississippi, California, Rhode Island, South Carolina or Vermont – in which case the next eligible player will be awarded the prize.

Ace Play Poker has been particularly active with their social marketing, and players can integrate their accounts with Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and Yahoo. The games of “free-to-play” online poker can be played on a computer browser or downloaded onto Windows and Mac operating systems and there is also a mobile app in production.

Getting Their Toe in the Door

Alec Driscoll, the company’s director of gaming development, announced the launch of aceplaypoker.com by saying “With the launch of this free to play website, we can now bring the excitement of play found at our properties to anyone with Internet access, no matter their location (*).” [(*) He forgot to exclude South Carolina!]

Driscoll was happy to confirm that the decision to launch the site at this time was made to position “ACEP and aceplaypoker.com for the potential approval of legalized online gaming”. Should that day never come, we guess Driscoll will be the first in line to throw himself off the top of the Stratosphere!
